Thirty Seven Organisations Unite to Combat Mortgage Fraud
Wed, 12 Oct 2011
Thirty seven organisations have signed up to Fighting Fraud Together.

They include: the Association of British Insurers; British Bankers Association; Building Societies Association; Council of Mortgage Lenders; Federation of Small Businesses; Financial Services Authority; Land Registry; and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors .

This set up is a forerunner as this is the first time that the government, industry reps, voluntary groups as well as law enforcement agencies have united to tackle fraud, including mortgage fraud.

Each partner is responsible for combating fraud.

The organisation will also set out a more effective approach to enforcement.

Industry and the public sector will develop their intelligence-sharing to prevent fraud attacks.

The organisations will also aim at increasing awareness and reporting.

Fighting Fraud Together aims to help individuals and small businesses in terms of tackling fraud and providing the support needed.

Activities will include expanding its capacity to include all financially motivated online fraud.
