Lenders Unite with Brokers to Fight Fraud
Wed, 30 Nov 2011
Countrywide's financial services director, Nigel Stockton, has stated that clear communication between mortgage lenders and mortgage brokers is essential to fight mortgage fraud.

He cited Santander as an especially good example of a mortgage lender ensuring that it keeps distributors informed when potential problems crop up.

Santander confirmed that it is committed to working in partnership with the industry to fight fraud .

Santander considers close interaction and open communication between mortgage lenders, distributors as well as intermediaries to be central to achieving this.

When a broker is removed from its panel due to fraudulent activity, Santander always informs their network and the regulator.

Mr Stockton stated that this approach is a lot better than five years ago when any suspicions of fraudulent activity were kept away from networks.
